Phoenix 99 LEMC: First Club Night

The day kicked off properly when our VP Smasher managed to finish work early. Never one to waste a bit of daylight, he was straight on the blower wanting to get a ride in before the club night. What started as an impromptu afternoon run turned into a proper marathon of an evening, proving once again that you can’t plan for the best days—they just happen. The Pre-Meet: Burnham-on-CrouchMyself and Smasher were joined by Ace and we headed out to the biker café The Cabin Dairy in Burnham-on-Crouch. If you haven’t been, it’s well worth the trip. We tucked into some burgers that were hot, tasty, and didn’t dent the wallet—definitely one to keep on the radar for future ride-outs.Pro Tip: Word is they host a dedicated biker night every Tuesday, so my be worth a revisit as a club. Major Update: Technical Difficulties (Sorted!)A massive win for the club’s collective eardrums: The President has officially resolved the "Loud Cardo" saga between Smasher and Ace. Ace is now rocking earplugs, which has successfully muffled the VP’s volume. Peace and quiet (well, as much as you get on two wheels) has been restored. First P99 Club Night @ HWNCWe rode over to the Harold Wood Neighbourhood Centre on Gubbins Lane for our first official Phoenix99 club night in the new spot. The turnout was solid with nine of us in attendance:Attendees: Pistol, Smasher, Ace, Laptop, Ragin, Joker, The Hudd, and Hazard. The Guest: A big welcome to Russ. He’s looking to join the family, and given his choice of under-helmet gear, "Ninja" is looking like the frontrunner for his road name if he does join up.Killer Pool & Clumsy VPsThe competition was fierce at the table. Joker took the first game of Killer Pool, and The Hudd snatched the second. I managed a very consistent second place in both games—a feat my better half back home found more hilarious than impressive stating "makes a change you coming second - No respect!"However, the highlight (or lowlight) of the night goes to Smasher. True to his name, the VP managed to smash yet another glass right next to the stage. I made the mistake of putting my helmet on only to find it completely soaked. I’m starting to think Billy’s missus only lets him use plastic plates at home for a reason!Keep the rubber side down and the glassware away from the VP. See you at the Ace!
